Random Thoughts from the Road

It's a bit of a challenge to keep track of the Illini from the road. But here are a few random thoughts from the world of college sports in general:

I'm glad the ESPN talking heads think the Illini are in the tourney, and I like seeing them at third in the Big Ten, although I will be suprised if we remain in that spot all week.
Why do people in the crowd at a game sometimes get more face time than the players on the court? It's hard enough to endure Coach Sampson on the sidelines in the Big Ten. I didn't need to see 87 shots of him at the OU v. Kansas game for Senior Day in Norman. It was harder to cheer against Kansas when they kept showing Sampson supporting the Sooners -- and that's saying a lot.
Kudos to Pat Summit for donning a cheerleading uniform to support the men's team, but I wouldn't consider Bruce Pearl in orange body paint a favor worth returning. (More like another Pearl nightmare worth trying to forget.)
Speaking of Pearl, my Illinut Uncle recently mentioned that Notre Dame's football coach was acting a bit Pearl-like after football signing day...
I would rather watch college basketball over the NBA anytime.
Kansas v. Kansas State was an entertaining game last week, but I couldn't decide which coach annoyed me more...
March Madness is just around the corner!
