Jim Sheppard

At face value, Jim Sheppard losing his job is ridiculous. For fans at football and basketball games, he's been the voice of the Illini for 22 years.

Unfortunately, this is the only story running on it and it uses an Illini message board to fill in half the story. What is that?

I want some real reporting since there is obviously more to it. After all, Sheppard himself said he had no warning. How does the university get away with operating that way? Aren't there laws against that sort of thing? takes Ron Guenther FOREVER to fire Ron Turner in order to try and right the football ship. Yet they fire the announcer without warning in order to "make our atmosphere and operations better."

Seems to me the best way to achieve that is to improve the product on the gridiron and hardwood.
